Montgomery College Vice President of Public Safety, Health and Emergency Management/Chief of Campus Police Adam Reid has been named a 2025 Campus Safety Director of the Year. The national honor, presented during the recent Campus Safety Conference in Austin, Texas, recognizes outstanding leadership and innovation in campus safety across higher education.
Reid, who started at the College in April of 2019, was recognized for transforming Montgomery College’s approach to public safety through strategic restructuring, innovation, and a strong commitment to community well-being. Prior to Montgomery College, Reid was deputy chief of McDaniel College's campus police. Among his most significant accomplishments at Montgomery College:
- Departmental Restructuring: Reid led the transition of Public Safety out of Facilities Management, establishing it as a stand-alone unit aligned with the College’s “One College, Three Campus” model.
- Standardization and Professionalism: He implemented standardized uniforms and unified safety policies across all campuses, reinforcing a consistent and professional presence.
- Enhanced Emergency Preparedness: Reid secured approval and funding for a dedicated emergency manager position and spearheaded the development of an integrated emergency response system to efficiently address potential crises.
- Culture of Resilience: Through proactive planning and training, Reid has cultivated a campus environment focused on preparedness, collaboration, and student-centered safety.
The Campus Safety Director of the Year award honors excellence in campus security, law enforcement, and emergency management in both education and healthcare settings. Reid joins an elite group of honorees including Jennifer Griffin of Temple University and Brandon Ingram of Covenant Health.
“Once again, the initiatives and improvements introduced by this year’s Director of the Year nominees were exceptional,” said Robin Hattersley, Editor-in-Chief of Campus Safety. “The dedication these leaders show to improving safety, fostering innovation, and building stronger communities is nothing short of remarkable.”
Reid’s recognition highlights Montgomery College’s ongoing commitment to student success, safety, and equity—on all campuses and in every interaction.
