Meet with a Financial Aid Counselor Virtually or In Person

For Special or Unusual Circumstances and Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeals.

Walk-ins are accepted during the office hours.

Virtual meetings are held via Zoom or phone. After scheduling, you'll receive a confirmation email with instructions to your Montgomery College email account.

Make an appointment with a financial aid counselor:

  • Loss of Employment/Income: Job loss, job change, reduction in hours, or loss of untaxed income (e.g., child support, benefits), loss of assets
  • Family Status Changes: Divorce, separation, disability or death of a spouse or parent.
  • High Medical Expenses: Unreimbursed, out-of-pocket medical or dental expenses that are not covered by insurance.
  • Natural Disaster or Emergency: Loss of assets due to fire, flood, or other unexpected events.
  • Dependent Care: Significant increase in expenses for caring for a dependent. Eldercare, Childcare, or Private School Expenses for Dependents.
  • Financial Hardship Due to Other Family Members in College

  • Abusive/Unsafe Family Environment: Physical or emotional abuse.
  • Contributor Abandonment/Estrangement: Parents cannot be located or contact is unsafe.
  • Incarceration: One or both parents are in prison.
  • Human Trafficking: Victim status.
  • Refugee/Asylee Status: Legally granted status.
  • Homelessness: Unaccompanied youth or at risk of homelessness.
  • Contributor Incapacity: Parents are physically or mentally incapacitated.
  • Death of Contributor: Both parents deceased after filing the FAFSA
  • Parental Refusal: Parent’s refuse to complete FAFSA (eligible for unsubsidized loans only)
